What is LASIK?

LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) is an advanced laser procedure used to correct refractive errors such as myopia (short-sightedness), hyperopia (long-sightedness), and astigmatism.
It works by reshaping the cornea so that light entering the eye focuses correctly on the retina, resulting in clearer vision without the need for glasses or contact lenses.

Who is a good candidate?

Types of Refractive Errors

LASIK corrects the following vision problems:

Myopia

Short-Sightedness (Myopia) is a condition where near objects are seen clearly, but distant objects appear blurred. It occurs when the eyeball is too long or the cornea is too curved, causing light to focus in front of the retina.

Hyperopia

Long-Sightedness (Hyperopia) is a condition in which distant objects appear clearer than near ones, and it occurs when the eyeball is too short or the cornea is too flat, making it difficult to focus on close objects.

Astigmatism

Vision is distorted or blurred at all distances due to an irregularly shaped cornea, causing light to focus unevenly on the retina.

Presbyopia

Presbyopia is an age-related condition where near vision becomes blurred or double due to loss of flexibility in the eye’s natural lens, making it unable to adjust focus for close objects. It commonly affects people over 40.

What Services We Offer

We offer a complete range of vision correction procedures, each designed to suit different eyes and lifestyles.

Standard LASIK

•A microkeratome (a blade) is used to create a thin flap on the cornea.
•An excimer laser then reshapes the underlying corneal tissue to correct refractive errors.

Bladeless / Femto LASIK

• Blade-Free Flap Creation – Corneal flap made using a femtosecond laser instead of a blade.
• Greater Accuracy – Ensures precise flap thickness and improved safety.

Contoura Vision

• Topography-Guided LASIK – Uses a detailed 3D map of your cornea.
• Corrects Irregularities – Enhances vision quality by addressing subtle corneal imperfections.

Wavefront-Guided LASIK (Custom LASIK)

• Wavefront-guided: Uses a detailed eye map created by wavefront technology to customize the laser treatment for each eye.
• Topography-guided: Similar to Contoura Vision, using corneal topography to guide the laser.

PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy)

• A surface-based laser eye surgery where the outermost layer of the cornea is removed and the cornea is reshaped with the excimer laser.
• It's an alternative to LASIK, particularly for those with thin corneas.

SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction)

• Minimally Invasive & Flapless – Performed through a tiny incision without creating a corneal flap.
• Lenticule Removal – A small piece of corneal tissue is removed to reshape the cornea and correct vision.

PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy)

• Lens Implantation – A special lens is placed inside the eye, behind the iris.
• Cornea Unaltered – Corrects refractive errors without reshaping the cornea.

Pre-LASIK Eye Tests

Before your LASIK surgery, we carry out a complete set of diagnostic tests to ensure your eyes are healthy and the treatment is safe for you.

Key Tests:

  • Visual Acuity Test

Measures your vision clarity at different distances.

  • Refraction

    Determines your exact prescription.

  • Dilated Eye examination

Checks the retina and optic nerve health.

  • Corneal Topography

Creates a 3D map of your cornea.

  • Pachymetry

    Measures corneal thickness.

  • Dry Eye Testing

    Identifies any tear film problems.

  • Pupil Size Measurement

Important for night vision quality after surgery.

  • Intraocular Pressure Check

    Screens for glaucoma.

  • Eye Muscle Testing

Ensures eyes are aligned and working together.

  • Blood Tests (if required)

    For certain medical conditions.
